About me

My name is Beeke Plagmann, and I have been painting for more than 20 years. My artistic journey began in childhood, driven by an irresistible urge to capture the essence of animals. At three years old, I climbed onto stacked chairs and drew a life-sized horse on the wall with a ballpoint pen—much to my mother’s horror and my father’s pride.

Over the years, my art evolved from pencil sketches to watercolors and eventually to acrylics. At 17, I painted my first large-scale acrylic piece using repurposed materials—a discarded canvas, old house paint, and just five colors. That experience taught me not only about mixing shades but also about the unpredictable nature of experimentation.

My work exists between reality and fairytale, between nature and another, almost forgotten world. Animals are more than just subjects to me—they carry deeper meaning, acting as messengers, guides, and reflections of our own souls. I draw inspiration from enchanted forests, wild landscapes, and the quiet presence of nature. My signature style—where animals blend with elements of their surroundings—began to take shape with a painting of a fox in which rolling hills emerged from its fur.

In 2020, I started selling my paintings, and in 2025, I decided to fully dedicate myself to my art, building my own website and shop.

Art is not a profession for me—it is what I am meant to do.
